This is some text inside of a div block.

Dear SOS Family,

I can’t believe it is almost October. Where has the year gone? It is amazing how time is flying. It has been another unique year, but the gospel progress and spiritual maturity here at SOS is so encouraging.

This past Sunday, as I sat in the living room with our legal and extended family and some close neighbor kids (about 60 in all) for our weekly worship night, I asked them to share with me how they felt our home and community are doing spiritually. In other words, I asked them to give me a spiritual assessment. I was so encouraged with their responses. Every one of them spoke of how God is growing and changing our community. It was evident to them by the fact that they see people’s faith becoming more and more personal, instead of stoic or for the purpose of providing a show for others.

Furthermore, they expressed how people are now passionate about sharing Christ with their neighbors. One person spoke of how SOS has established a new culture in our community, a culture of lovingly exposing sin and being open and transparent with one another. Earlier on the same day, I met with a group of ladies who have started a ministry of service for people within our community. These sweet saints came to seek the wisdom of the elders on how to move forward with their ministry. Our church is becoming a church of 100 ministers.

We now, due to Covid, are seeing approximately 30 Bible studies and another estimated 30 discipleship groups meeting around SOS during a given week. Not to mention the fact that our Legacy staff decided, on their own, to meet their students in their villages to educate them while school are not yet allowed to open. I am so encouraged because God is raising an army of ministers in our midst.

So please keep praying with us that:

  • God will keep raising leaders to serve our community and to teach at Shepherds Training Center
  • Open up all of our institutions by the end of the year so our education programs can continue
  • God will help STC become fully accredited to award certificates, diplomas, and degrees
  • God will provide wisdom to the leadership of SOS as we seek to achieve our missions of impacting this community and strengthening churches throughout this beautiful country

It is such a joy to serve the Lord in Uganda. Thank you for being an incredible part of enabling all this ministry to happen. We love you!

Servant of the King,

Shannon Hurley

Moving [Dirt] Forward

What a blessing it was to have John Sanborn from Compass Bible Church at SOS to grade the land for Phase II and III of Shepherds Training Housing! The housing that is to be built on this land will be able to accommodate the entire family of a Shepherds Training Center student so that they too can live and be discipled at SOS Ministries.
