March 2026

This is some text inside of a div block.

Friend,

The Church has always been God’s “Plan A” to reach the world. That’s why we’re so passionate about our local church, Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe (CBCK).

We founded CBCK in 2009 in Danielle’s and my living room, with a vision to create a model church for pastors-in-training and as the control center to impact our own village community. Little did we envision all that God would do. There’s so much happening in the life of our church! I hope the following updates and resources help you love it as we do…

THE BIG PICTURE VISION

We believe the hope of Uganda is the establishment of a local church, with well-trained, God-fearing pastors planted all throughout East Africa. And this is the ultimate purpose for why SOS exists. All of our energy and time is focused to this end.

For the last 20 years, our focus has been on establishing a model church (Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe) and on assembling a pastoral training center (Shepherds Training College). These have been set and are thriving! Now our attention is turning toward the final piece of our big picture plan: Church Planting.

More details will be rolling out in the months and years to come. Please join us in praying for this massive and challenging undertaking.

CBCK UPDATES

With a new church building, there is a new feel and a renewed vision to impact the community. Our mission is to “See lost people saved, saved people matured, and matured people multiplying. And for the last 17 years most of our energies have been to reach the lost. That is why we have Legacy Christian Academy, SOS Medical Center, and Joni and Friends. This is also why as a church we have been focusing on Bible studies in the various communities, evangelistic Bible studies, and powerful Sunday programs. And the results are 700 to 800 people on a Sunday morning.

Now this year, our focus is “seeing saved people matured!”  So we kicked off February with a massive event called, “Recruitment Sunday.” It has been an effort to get every member ministering and involved in an accountability relationship to read their Bibles. We also promoted baptism and church membership. The results have been encouraging. We have also rejuvenated our youth program. From the pulpit, we did an elders “Shepherding Series” and a series on “The Importance of Local Church.” Now, since the beginning of March, Mark Rutuna is preaching through the book of Philippians. The church continues to demonstrate an awesome hunger for God’s Word.

Our next focus is equipping our church in various Sunday School classes.

The results are encouraging, but there is a long way to go! The good news is that our people have a passion to know God’s Word, and they are willing to dedicate themselves to study it. The work ahead of us is seeing lives changed by the truth. However, with the many godly examples now within the ministry, we are well on our way! Please keep praying for us that God will help us see our saved people matured.
