June 2021

This is some text inside of a div block.

Dear SOS Family,

As many of you are already aware, there has been a recent Covid-19 resurgence in Uganda. As a result, the Ugandan government implemented temporary regulations. The regulations issued by the President that most impact SOS are that schools and churches are to remain closed for 42 days as of June 7th.

Although our local church, Shepherds Training Center, and Legacy Christian Academy are temporarily closed, our offices can remain open, daily operations can continue, and our mission remains the same: strengthen our Lord’s church and impact lives through Christ and God’s Word!

Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate the situation and seek to serve those in our community. Below are three specific ways you can be praying for us in light of the Covid-19 resurgence:

  • Pray that our village will be protected from the virus.
  • Pray that the Lord would grant Dr. Tony Gordon wisdom and strength as he is treating patients on campus and in our community.
  • Pray that we would care for our community well.

Despite the circumstances, we have much to be thankful for! I pray you are encouraged by what follows in this newsletter. Thank you for your prayers.

Servant of the King,

Shannon Hurley

Baptism Sunday!

On Sunday, May 30th the SOS community celebrated 18 baptisms! Eighteen testimonies declared God’s sovereign power to save before joyfully entering the waters of baptism!

As one man testified, only God could take a “heart of stone and turn it into a heart of flesh.” Thank you for praying for the work that the Lord is doing in our community!

If you haven't watched it already, check out the video of baptism Sunday!
