July 2024

This is some text inside of a div block.

Dear Friends,

July marks the halfway point of the year! 6 months flew by, though looking back now I’m awestruck at all the Lord has done. We’ve educated hundreds of children, shared the gospel with our community, and equipped the church in Uganda- all to His glory! Even just this month, there is much to celebrate.

MEDICAL OUTREACH IN OUR COMMUNITY

More than ¾ of the world’s cases of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) reside in Sub-Saharan Africa. Sickle cell is a genetic blood disorder where the Hemoglobin protein is mutated, causing red blood cells to die off early. This leads to many complications like infections, stroke, eye problems, and more.

While this is widely affecting communities in Africa, there is little to no knowledge of it and even less proactivity due to costs. SOS wants to change that! That’s why on June 21st, Sickle Cell Awareness Day, we opened our medical clinic’s doors for free screening, testing, counseling, and information!

We served 95 members of our community! 81 were screened, and we found that 58 were totally free of Sickle Cell trait, 21 were carriers, and 2 had sickle cell disease.

This knowledge coupled with the increased awareness of SCD has the potential to prevent future children from having to face this disease! Thank you to our donor who so generously provided us with the equipment to be able to serve our community in this way.

We prayerfully anticipate that repeating this event annually will save our community and Uganda from so much heartache.

NINE PEOPLE GET BAPTIZED

After 8 weeks of class, 14 elder interviews, and testimonies across 3 Sunday services, Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe rejoiced that 9 believers were added to our number through baptism!

These testimonies and baptisms are often some of the most encouraging moments in the life of our church. Please rejoice with us and continue to pray for our Lord’s work in building up his church here in Kubamitwe!

90 STUDENTS NEED A SPONSOR

Meet Anitah!

“My name is Anitah Nanono! I live in Ntebe Village with my sister. My favorite subject at Legacy is Math. An activity I enjoy is singing. My favorite color is pink, and my favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 42:8. When I grow up I want to be a nurse!”

You can help give children like Anitah hope for their future by sponsoring her education and spiritual formation for $45 a month.

SPONSOR A CHILD

PRAY WITH US:

  • Hickory Bible Church is here this week putting on a VBS for the children at Legacy! Each class will meet with the team 1 hour every day. Pray for soft hearts and that the gospel would be clearly proclaimed!
  • Pray for God to provide more professors to STC, and for STC leadership to have wisdom and favor with our accrediting body.
  • Please pray for the National Women’s Conference SOS will be hosting the first week of September. We are eagerly awaiting hundreds of women’s leaders nationwide to join us to be strengthened in God’s Word.
  • Please be praying for our STC certificate students as they end this second term and thoughtfully process all they have been learning about the gospel. Pray that the Spirit would guide them as they evaluate whether or not they are in the Faith.
  • Please pray for the Bachelor Degree students as they finish their final month of intense study of the Old Testament. Pray for endurance and spiritual impact.
