December 2014

This is some text inside of a div block.

Dear Friends of SOS,

We enter this Christmas season with hearts overflowing and rejoicing in so very much!

We rejoice first and foremost in our Lord Jesus, our great King, who loved us when we were His enemies, the suffering Servant who came to reconcile us to God:

By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. - 1 John 4:9-10

We rejoice in the privilege of participating in Christ's redemptive work, and in His amazing grace manifest through meeting our needs and blessing us with such encouraging fruit over the years.

We rejoice in the unity, dedication and giftedness of our SOS Uganda team, working together as "one body" in ministry and service.

We rejoice in the spiritual growth of the Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe and the success of Legacy Christian Academy Uganda.

We rejoice in our unique partnership with the Baptist Union of Uganda, and the strengthening of the local churches we have seen through our ministry and God's grace.

And we rejoice in the faithful prayers, support and financial partnership with our SOS Family, our supporters in the USA, Canada and abroad.  We so very much appreciate all of you, we lift you up in our prayers, and we praise God for the privilege and joy to serve Him together in this ministry with you.

With much joy and appreciation for all that He has done and all that you do in Him, we look forward to all that the Lord will do and has for us in 2015.

Please continue to pray for:

* continued unity, health and effectiveness of the SOS Uganda team

* spiritual health of the Community Bible Church of Kubamitwe

* the impact and fruit from Legacy Uganda on the children and families of Kubamitwe and nearby villages

* church strengthening through the BUU leadership meetings, pastoral training workshops and conferences planned in 2015

* Wisdom and fruit in the completion of the SOS Campus Master Plan, including launching the SOS Pastoral Training Center and continued progress at Legacy Christian Academy Uganda

* SOS USA/Canada ministry support team, that God would raise up additional volunteers, continue to provide for His ministry, and give the USA/Canada team wisdom and effectiveness in supporting the SOS Uganda ministry on the ground.

With much love and appreciation, and wishing you a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year,

Construction & Matching Grant Update

SOS continues to expand its physical facilities to better meet the ministry needs of the community and BUU pastoral training. In 2014, SOS completed additional Legacy Uganda school blocks, support facilities, staff housing, and new infrastructure. Thanks to a generous matching grant offer of $400,000, SOS has the opportunity to raise $800,000 toward completion of the Phase I Pastoral Training Center. In early 2015, an SOS team will be updating the Campus Master Plan and preparing the site for grading as we build pastoral housing and related facilities, housing up to 90 pastors for an intensive Christ-focused discipleship, biblical training and shepherding program.  Would you consider partnering with SOS in this wonderful opportunity? Every dollar donated is doubled by our generous donor.

SOS Visits with the President of Uganda Office!

December 11, 2014

Danielle Hurley

We were prepared to meet with the President of Uganda to request tax exempt status for SOS. While we weren't able to actually meet with the President today, his Secretary ushered us into the Cabinet Meeting Room, next to his official office in the parliament building where the president holds his meetings. The Secretary graciously inquired about SOS, giving us each opportunity to explain the impact SOS is having on Uganda. Solomon was especially on his game, prepared with photos and even prompting Shannon at one point, which led to a follow up meeting next week. The Secretary seemed very excited about SOS and assured us that he plans to brief "His Excellency" about us. He also hopes to visit us at our home early January. He shared that he, too, is a born again Christian. Toward the end of the meeting, he gathered all the information we brought and thanked us for loving and serving the people of Uganda and offered government support so that we can "work together" to empower our people. He also wanted to make sure I had a traditional Ugandan name, and gave me "Nakito", from his own clan.

The Secretary expressed great interest in participating himself in our Bible training. So Shannon will bring a Quest for Truth for him at next week's meeting!

Shannon closed the meeting by praying for Secretary Godfrey. Pray for next week's meeting! God is opening doors for the gospel! And to think...this whole meeting was arranged by a Muslim who considers Shannon as his son and is ecstatic that his grandson attends Legacy Christian Academy! Praise God!

Appreciation for Rebekah Kolstad

SOS wishes the thank the faithful service of Rebekah Kolstad, our dear missionary "intern" with Legacy Uganda, as she returns back to the USA. You can read her latest update here:

Martha Peace - Featured Speaker at SOS National Women's Conference
