DEVOTIONAL – MATTHEW

These past few months have been challenging times, as local churches around the world have not gathered. For most of the world, zoom calls, online streaming, and the like have served to fill the gaps of missing fellowship. While we all agree, this has helped, it continues to leave our hearts longing for in-person fellowship again.

These past few months have been challenging times, as local churches around the world have not gathered. For most of the world, zoom calls, online streaming, and the like have served to fill the gaps of missing fellowship. While we all agree, this has helped, it continues to leave our hearts longing for in-person fellowship again.

In rural Uganda, the technological place holders for the gathering of believers are not available. During these weeks in quarantine, SOS Ministries remains dedicated to serving our dear brothers and sisters at the local church. Each week, founder Shannon Hurley, and the elders of the local church, have been writing a heartfelt letter urging the families that attend our church to continue trusting in the Lord and pursue holiness.

Additionally, we are equipping the men in our villages to lead their families in a time centered on God’s Word. We have developed a small devotional guide through the book of Matthew. In place of our Sunday gatherings, our church families will go through this devotional. The goal is to help the men in the families understand the passage himself and then lead the family in a discussion surrounding the text and some application questions. This effort is simply the latest way we are accomplishing our vision to see Christ reigning in the hearts of the people we serve. We have been so encouraged by the first two weeks with this tool and look forward to what the Lord will do in the coming weeks as we continue writing these devotions.

We also want to share these resources with you! First, we want this to be a tool that you can use to lead your family through a dedicated time in the Word or to aid you in your study. Secondly, we want you to join with us in Uganda in prayer and the ministry of the Word.

As you go through this study, would you pray for the men in our villages who are leading their families through this study? It’s our prayer for you that this will help you grow in your love for Christ!
