1st Baptism Service at Church of Kubamitwe
On Saturday, May 15th, 2010, 19 villagers were baptized at Church of Kubamitwe. For four hours, testimonies of God’s amazing grace rang out to the congregation and other attendees from the village. We heard stunning stories from people who have reluctantly attended our Bible studies for the past year and a half and just recently surrendered their lives to Christ. The common theme among the testimonies was the power of God’s Word to transform lives. They testified that God’s powerful Word, which they had been resisting, finally entered in and transformed their hearts. One believer was a former soldier who had been entrenched in a life of murder. God’s Word revealed the wickedness of his heart and convicted him of his need of a Savior. Other new believers renounced their previous heart idols of money, alcohol, and good works. As the ground beneath our tent filled with water from the heavy tropical storm, we found our feet covered in mud. But that didn’t stop each believer from falling to his knees in the traditional stance of proclaiming a life-changing declaration for all to witness before entering the waters of baptism. Applause and joyful hollers erupted as each believer was raised out of the water. Our God is faithfully mighty to save! We stand in awe as we observe God drawing our village to Himself, one life at a time.
